Our take on the Nine Stars Oval 13-Gallon Stainless Steel Motion Sensor Trash Can

The Nine Stars Oval is a 13-gallon touchless trash can in fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, sized to take standard kitchen bags. A motion sensor opens the lid hands-free, and the oval shape fits against a wall or cabinet better than a round can. At $49.91 at eBay as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, well under what most 13-gallon sensor cans cost.

Best forKitchen households that want hands-free disposalHome cooks who handle raw meat and messy scrapsAnyone who dislikes touching a lidCommercial or office break rooms
Pros
  • Hands-free sensor lid keeps the outside clean
  • 13 gallons takes standard kitchen bags
  • Fingerprint-resistant stainless steel wipes down easily
  • Oval footprint fits tight spaces
  • Low price for a sensor can at $49.91 at eBay as of November 6, 2026
Cons
  • Sensor needs batteries and can misfire or drain them
  • Lid motor and sensor are the usual failure points
  • Stainless steel can still show smudges and dents
  • No manual override on some units, so a dead battery means a stuck lid

Questions and answers

Does it need batteries?
Yes. The motion sensor and lid motor run on batteries, so keep spares on hand. A dead battery leaves the lid closed until you replace them.
What size trash bags fit?
Standard 13-gallon kitchen bags fit. The oval opening is wider than it is deep, so bags stretch to the shape.
Is $49.91 a good price?
It is the lowest new price among the four stores listing it as of November 6, 2026, and low for a 13-gallon sensor can. Waiting is unlikely to save much.
Will it fit under a counter?
It stands 24.81 inches high and 16.8 inches wide, so check your clearance before buying. The lid needs room to swing open.
Can I open it by hand?
Most units have a manual open button or allow lifting the lid, but check the model. Relying on the sensor alone is risky if the batteries die.
Is it good for a kitchen with pets or kids?
The touchless lid helps keep messes contained, but a low sensor can be set off by pets walking past.
Where is the Nine Stars Oval 13-Gallon Stainless Steel Motion Sensor Trash Can cheapest?
At eBay, for $49.91, 50% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Nine Stars Oval 13-Gallon Stainless Steel Motion Sensor Trash Can?
5 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, JCPenney, Macy's, Best Buy, Sears.
