Is the simplehuman 58L dual compartment can worth $325?

If you want one large touchless can that separates trash and recycling, the build and lid are the draw. If price matters more, a manual dual-bin can costs far less.

How big is the 58-liter can?

It holds 15.3 gallons across two compartments, roughly 29 liters each. Check the footprint against your space, since dual bins are wider than single cans.

Does it need batteries or a power cord?

It runs on batteries, and simplehuman sells an AC adapter for outlet power. Owners report the lid slows or stops when batteries run low.

Do I have to use simplehuman liners?

No, but the can is shaped for its custom-fit liners, and standard bags fit loosely. Budget for the liner cost over time.

When is the best time to buy it?

The best new price found is $325 at Simplehuman as of November 6, 2026, with only one store listing it new. Watch for holiday sales, when simplehuman discounts its cans.

Our take on the simplehuman 58 Liter / 15.3 Gallon Dual Compartment Sensor Can

This is simplehuman's 58-liter (15.3-gallon) touchless trash can with two side-by-side compartments, so trash and recycling stay separate in one bin. It opens on a hand wave and closes on its own, and it runs on batteries or an AC adapter. The best new price is $325 at Simplehuman as of November 6, 2026, the only new price found. That is the top of what this can has cost recently, so it is not a discount moment.
