Our take on the Nordic Ware Naturals 18 inch x 13 inch Aluminum Half Sheet

The Nordic Ware Naturals Half Sheet is a bare aluminum rimmed baking pan, about 18 by 13 inches, sized to fit most home ovens. Its encapsulated galvanized steel rim is built to resist warping and twisting at high heat. Bare aluminum heats fast and evenly, which is why it is a standard for sheet-pan dinners, cookies and roasting vegetables. It is a plain, inexpensive workhorse rather than a nonstick pan.

Questions and answers

Is the Nordic Ware half sheet worth it over a cheaper pan?
Yes, if you bake or roast often. The encapsulated rim keeps it flat at high heat, while thin pans warp and rattle. It costs more than a supermarket sheet but lasts far longer.
What is the maximum oven temperature?
Nordic Ware rates Naturals aluminum bakeware for oven use up to 450°F. Avoid broiler use, which can warp or discolor the pan.
Can I put it in the dishwasher?
No. Hand wash and dry it to avoid discoloration and pitting. Bare aluminum dulls in a dishwasher.
What size is it, and does it fit a standard oven?
It measures about 17.9 by 12.9 inches, a standard half sheet. It fits most home ovens with room to spare; check your rack width if your oven is small.
Can I cut or serve on it?
You can, but knives will scratch the aluminum. Use a cutting board for slicing and the pan for baking and roasting.
When is it cheapest?
Prices on bare aluminum bakeware dip during holiday sales and back-to-school promotions. Compare current store prices and its price history before buying.
What do buyers say about the Nordic Ware Naturals 18 inch x 13 inch Aluminum Half Sheet?
Rated 4.4 out of 5 from 391 ratings.
