Is the Fastpack Mid WP actually waterproof?

Yes. It has a waterproof, breathable membrane under the mesh and nylon upper, so rain and shallow puddles stay out. It is not a wading boot, so deep water can still get in over the collar.

How does it compare with the Fastpack Hiker or a leather boot?

It is lighter and more breathable than a leather boot, which suits fast day hikes. A leather boot gives more support and durability for heavy packs and rough terrain.

What is the Fastpack Mid WP best for?

Day hikes, travel and light backpacking in wet or mixed weather. It is not the right pick for multi-day alpine trips or very rocky scrambles.

Does it run true to size?

Most buyers say it fits true to size, though some with wider feet find it slightly narrow. Try it with the socks you hike in before committing.

One pair of boots with the factory laces. Insoles and socks are not included.

Our take on the North Face Women's Fastpack Mid WP

The North Face Fastpack Mid WP is a women's mid-height hiking boot built for fast day hikes and light backpacking. It pairs a waterproof, breathable membrane with a mesh and nylon upper, a cushioned midsole and a rubber outsole for grip on mixed terrain. It sits in the affordable end of The North Face's hiking line, aimed at hikers who want protection without a heavy leather boot.
