Oregon PowerCut 72LGX064G Saw Chain

Our take on the Oregon PowerCut 72LGX064G Saw Chain

The Oregon PowerCut 72LGX064G is a 3/8-inch pitch, .050-gauge full-chisel saw chain with 64 drive links, built for mid-size gas and battery saws in the 50-60cc class. It uses Oregon's OCS-01 steel with blued cutters and LubriTec oiling slots, plus top-plate filing indicators so you can see when the cutter needs sharpening. Full-chisel cutters cut fast in clean wood but are less forgiving in dirty or frozen timber than semi-chisel. The best new price is $20.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, with two stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Will this chain fit my saw?

It fits saws set up for 3/8-inch pitch, .050-gauge chain with 64 drive links, typically 20-inch bars on 50-60cc saws. Check your bar's pitch, gauge and drive-link count before buying; a mismatch in any one will not fit.

Is full-chisel chain worth it over semi-chisel?

Full-chisel cuts faster in clean wood and is the better pick for firewood and felling clean timber. If you cut dirty, sandy or frozen wood often, a semi-chisel loop stays sharp longer.

What file do I need to sharpen it?

Use a 7/32-inch round file with the correct file guide, and file the depth gauges as the cutters wear. The top-plate indicators show when the cutter is back to the right shape.

Is this a low-kickback chain?

No. This is a standard full-chisel chain without low-kickback bumper links, so it is meant for experienced cutters using proper safety gear.

When is the price lowest?

Chain prices move with listings rather than seasons. The best new price was $20.00 at eBay as of November 4, 2026; compare the two new listings before buying.
