Is this protector actually waterproof?

Yes. The listing describes a waterproof, breathable barrier under the organic fabric top. It guards against spills and stains while still letting air through.

Does it feel plasticky or noisy?

The brand says the soft construction will not crinkle or make noise beneath sheets. That is a manufacturer claim; there are no owner reviews on this page to confirm it.

Machine wash cold and tumble dry low. Remove it before washing and make sure it is fully dry before putting it back on the mattress.
