Is the Argo 100X sit-on-top or sit-inside?

This listing is the sit-on-top version. Pelican also sells a sit-inside Argo 100X, so confirm the cockpit type on the page before you buy.

Is it good for a beginner?

Yes. The wide 28-inch hull and 300 lb capacity make it stable and forgiving on calm water. It is not built for surf, whitewater or open-water crossings.

How much does it weigh and can one person carry it?

About 40 lb, or 36 lb per Pelican's spec sheet. Most adults can carry it alone for short distances, but a cart helps on long walks to the water.

What fits in the 300 lb capacity?

One adult plus a paddle, PFD, cooler and a dry bag. Keep total load under 300 lb, and remember heavier loads sit lower and paddle slower.

Does it come with a paddle?

Usually not. Most Pelican recreational kayaks ship as the hull alone, so budget for a paddle and a PFD separately.

Recreational kayaks usually drop in price at the end of summer and during spring pre-season sales. Check the price history before buying.

Our take on the Pelican Argo 100X Fade Deep Blue White/White/White

The Pelican Argo 100X is a 10-foot recreational kayak for one paddler on lakes, slow rivers and calm water. It is a sit-on-top design with a 300 lb capacity and weighs about 40 lb, light enough for one person to load on a roof rack. Pelican also lists a sit-inside version of the same model, so check the cockpit type before you buy. No current price was provided for this listing, so compare store prices before ordering.
