Our take on the Petscosset Outdoor Cat House Two-Story Wooden Feral Cat Shelter with Openable Roof

The Petscosset Outdoor Cat House is a two-story wooden shelter for feral and outdoor cats, 26.5 inches high, with a hinged roof that opens for cleaning and access. The openable roof is the main feature that sets it apart from fixed-roof shelters, since you can reach inside to swap bedding or scoop out a nest. At $99.98 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range, with three stores listing it new.

Questions and answers

Is it worth it compared with a plastic cat house?
For the price, yes. Wood insulates better than thin plastic, and the openable roof is a real convenience. Budget for a coat of sealant if it will sit in rain or snow.
Does it come assembled?
No. It ships flat and needs assembly with basic tools. Most buyers finish in under an hour.
Will it keep a cat warm in winter?
It blocks wind and rain but has no insulation. Add a thick layer of straw and a raised floor pad, and place it out of prevailing wind.
How big is it inside?
It stands 26.5 inches high across two levels. Each level is sized for one average cat; very large cats may find it cramped.
When is the price lowest?
Outdoor pet shelters tend to dip in late fall and early winter, when demand for cold-weather gear peaks and stores discount to compete. The current $99.98 at Walmart is already near the bottom of its recent range.
Where is the Petscosset Outdoor Cat House Two-Story Wooden Feral Cat Shelter with Openable Roof cheapest?
At Walmart, for $99.98, as of our latest check.
What do buyers say about the Petscosset Outdoor Cat House Two-Story Wooden Feral Cat Shelter with Openable Roof?
