Our take on the PEXCHO 52cc 20 in. Gas Chainsaw

The PEXCHO 52cc is a gas-powered chainsaw with a 20-inch straight bar and a 2.6 hp two-stroke engine. It has an anti-vibration system, which matters on a saw this size during long bucking or felling sessions. It suits homeowners and light farm or firewood work rather than daily professional logging. No current store price was provided, so check the price history before buying.

Pros
  • 20-inch bar handles trunks and limbs up to roughly 18 inches
  • 2.6 hp from 52 cc is enough for sustained cutting in hardwood
  • Anti-vibration system reduces hand fatigue on long jobs
  • Gas power means no cord or battery runtime limit
  • Straight bar keeps the saw simple and easy to sharpen
Cons
  • Two-stroke gas needs mixed fuel and regular carburetor care

Questions and answers

Is a 52cc 20-inch chainsaw too much for a homeowner?
It is on the large side for trimming but reasonable for felling medium trees and cutting firewood. If most of your work is limbs under 6 inches, a smaller 40cc saw will be lighter and easier to start.
What fuel mix does it need?
Two-stroke gas saws of this size typically run a 50:1 gas-to-oil mix with a quality two-stroke oil. Confirm the ratio in the manual before the first tank, since running straight gas will damage the engine.
How does it compare with a pro-brand 50cc saw?
It offers similar displacement and bar length at a lower price, but expect less refined carburetion, heavier weight and harder-to-find parts. For occasional use that trade-off is often acceptable.
What size wood can a 20-inch bar cut?
A 20-inch bar cuts through roughly 16 to 18 inches of wood in a single pass. Larger trunks need a two-sided cut or a longer bar.
What comes in the box?
Typically the powerhead, bar, chain, bar cover and a tool kit, but contents vary by seller. Check the listing for the included bar and chain before ordering.
When is the best time to buy a gas chainsaw?
Prices tend to dip in late fall and winter, outside storm season, and during spring outdoor-power promotions. Watch the price history for a drop below the recent range.
