Is the 5000 Series XL worth it over a smaller air fryer?

If you cook for three or more people or want to roast a whole chicken, the XL capacity justifies the size. For one or two people, a 3-4 quart model is cheaper and easier to store.

How does it compare with the Philips XXL?

The XXL line adds a slightly larger basket and more preset programs on some models. The 5000 Series XL is the simpler, usually cheaper option with the same 392°F ceiling.

What can fit in a 1.1-gallon basket?

Roughly a 3-4 pound chicken, a pound of fries, or vegetables for four. It is not large enough for a full turkey or very large batches.

Does it need preheating?

Philips designs generally do not require preheating, though adding 2-3 minutes improves crispness on frozen foods. Follow the recipe or manual for timing.

Our take on the Philips Airfryer 5000 Series XL

The Philips Airfryer 5000 Series XL is a 1.1-gallon (about 6.6-quart) electric air fryer with 1,400 watts and a top temperature of 392°F. It is built for families and batch cooking, with a large basket that fits a whole chicken or several portions of fries in one go. The 5000 Series uses Philips' Rapid Air heating and usually sells in the mid-range for XL air fryers. Check the price history before buying; XL models from Philips often drop during seasonal sales.
