Is the 6.2 qt size too big for one or two people?

It is generous for two. A 6.2 qt basket is aimed at families, but it also lets you cook a whole chicken or a week of vegetables at once. For single portions, a 3 to 4 qt model heats up faster.

How is it different from Philips' premium Airfryer XXL?

The Essential line is the simpler, lower-cost tier: fewer smart features and basic controls. The XXL models add more powerful fat-removal designs and often app or recipe connectivity. Both hold around 6 to 7 quarts.

Do I need to preheat it?

Philips designs generally do not require preheating for most foods; add a few minutes if you want crispier results. Presets assume a cold basket.

What comes in the box?

The fryer unit with its pan and basket, plus a quick-start guide. Accessories such as a grill pan or baking dish are sold separately on most Essential models.

Air fryers typically drop during Black Friday, Prime Day and back-to-school sales. Check the price history chart on this page to see whether the current price is near its low.

Our take on the Philips Essential Air Fryer XL 6.2 Qt

The Philips Essential Air Fryer XL is a 6.2-quart basket-style air fryer with a 2000 W heating element, 7 presets and 14 cooking functions, plus a keep-warm mode up to 30 minutes. The 6.2 L pan and 1.2 kg basket suit families and batch cooking. It is a mid-size XL model rather than Philips' premium XXL line, so expect basic dials or simple digital controls rather than app connectivity. No current price was provided, so check the live comparison for where it sits against its recent range.
