Is the ink really erasable?

Yes. The thermo-sensitive gel ink turns clear when rubbed with the rubber tip on the cap, so it erases by heat rather than abrasion. It does not leave eraser crumbs.

Will my writing come back or disappear later?

Heat above roughly 140°F makes the ink invisible, and cold can bring faint traces back. Avoid leaving pages in a hot car or near a radiator, and don't use it for documents that must last.

What point size is this?

This is the fine point, about 0.7 mm, which writes a crisp line suited to small handwriting. If you prefer a bolder line, the medium point is the alternative.

Can I refill these pens?

Yes, Pilot sells FriXion refills, but a refill often costs nearly as much as a new pen. For a 12-pack, replacing whole pens is usually simpler.

Is it good for left-handed writers?

Generally yes. The gel dries fairly quickly and the fine point lays down less ink, which reduces smearing as your hand crosses the page.

When is the best time to buy?

Our take on the Pilot FriXion Ball Erasable Gel Ink Pens Fine Point Red 12 Pack

The Pilot FriXion Ball is a retractable gel pen whose thermo-sensitive ink erases cleanly with the built-in rubber tip, so you can write, rub out, and rewrite without torn paper. This 12-pack is all red fine-point, a size that suits margin notes, grading, and color-coding. Fine point lays a line around 0.7 mm, so it is crisp for small handwriting but lighter than a medium. The FriXion line is widely sold and frequently discounted in multi-packs; a 12-pack is the economical way to buy if red is your main color.
