Our take on the Piscifun AlinoX 400 Saltwater Baitcasting Reel

The Piscifun AlinoX 400 is a saltwater-rated baitcasting reel built for heavy inshore and nearshore work, with a 38 lb max drag that puts it in big-fish territory for its class. It is a large-frame 400-size reel, so it suits surf, pier and boat anglers chasing stripers, reds, cobia or smaller sharks rather than finesse bass fishing. It holds a 4.8 out of 5 rating from 87 ratings, which is strong for a budget-priced brand. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Questions and answers

Is the AlinoX 400 worth it for surf fishing?
Yes, if you throw heavy baits and want 38 lb of drag without spending premium money. It is heavier than a 300-size reel, so expect fatigue on long casting sessions.
How does it compare with the AlinoX 300?
The 400 has a larger spool and frame for more line capacity and heavier drag loads. The 300 is lighter and better for repeated casting with lighter baits.
What line should I spool on it?
It suits 20 to 30 lb monofilament or 50 to 65 lb braid for big inshore fish. Braid gives more capacity and better sensitivity in current.
Is it good for beginners?
Not ideal. Baitcasters need thumb control to avoid backlashes, and the large 400 frame is unforgiving while you learn. A spinning reel is easier to start with.
Does it need special care in saltwater?
Rinse it with fresh water after each trip and oil the bearings regularly. Saltwater reels at this price need more frequent maintenance than sealed premium models.
When is it cheapest?
Piscifun reels typically drop during major sale events and off-season promotions. Watch the price history here rather than buying at first listing.
What do buyers say about the Piscifun AlinoX 400 Saltwater Baitcasting Reel?
Rated 4.8 out of 5 from 87 ratings.
