Our take on the Prestige The Apex Torch Lighter Black Chrome

The Prestige The Apex is a butane torch lighter in black chrome with an adjustable flame. It is a single-jet torch aimed at cigars, candles and light outdoor work rather than a soft-flame pocket lighter. At $24.95 at Best Buy as of November 8, 2026, it is the only new price on record, so there is no recent range to compare it against. That puts it in budget torch territory, below most name-brand cigar torches.

Best forCigar smokers who want a wind-resistant torch flameCandle and grill lightingBuyers wanting a low-cost first torch lighterAnyone who prefers an adjustable flame
Pros
  • Adjustable flame lets you dial the jet up or down
  • Torch flame holds up better than a soft flame in wind
  • Black chrome finish looks understated
  • Butane fuel is cheap and widely available
  • $24.95 at Best Buy as of November 8, 2026 is a low entry price for a torch
Cons
  • Single new price on record, so no history to judge whether $24.95 is a deal
  • Butane torch lighters burn fuel fast and need frequent refills
  • Torch flames run hot and are risky near faces, fingers and clothing
  • No listed warranty, fuel window or safety lock
  • Only one store carries it new, so price competition is limited

Questions and answers

Is $24.95 a good price for this lighter?
It is the only new price on record, $24.95 at Best Buy as of November 8, 2026, so there is no recent range to compare it with. For a butane torch lighter it is a low price, and there is no cheaper new listing to wait for.
What fuel does it use?
It runs on butane, the standard fuel for torch lighters. Buy a can of refined butane and refill it through the fill valve on the base.
Can I adjust the flame?
Yes. It has an adjustable flame, so you can turn the jet down for cigars or up for candles and outdoor use.
Is a torch lighter good for cigars?
A torch lights a cigar quickly and works in wind, but keep the flame off the tobacco itself or it can scorch the wrapper. Toast the foot first, then draw.
What is in the box?
The lighter itself. Butane is not included, since lighters ship empty for transport, so plan on buying a can of fuel before first use.
When is it cheapest?
There is no price history yet, so no seasonal low is known. With one store selling it new, watch that listing rather than expecting a sale elsewhere.
Where is the Prestige The Apex Torch Lighter Black Chrome cheapest?
At Best Buy, for $24.95, as of our latest check.
