Is the Presto Dehydro worth it?

Yes if you want an inexpensive, no-frills dehydrator for jerky, dried fruit and pet treats. If you need adjustable low temperatures for vegetables or herbs, spend more on a unit with a thermostat.

Can I set the temperature?

No. It is preset to 165 °F. That is fine for meat and most fruit but too hot for raw-food recipes and some delicate herbs.

Does it have a timer?

No. It runs continuously while plugged in, up to a stated 48-hour maximum drying time. Use a separate kitchen timer to avoid overdrying.

Can I add more trays?

Yes. The stack is expandable with additional Presto Dehydro trays, though the fan and heating element are sized for the base unit.

Our take on the Presto Dehydro Food Dehydrator

The Presto Dehydro is a round countertop dehydrator with a top-mounted fan and heating element that push constant airflow down over four stackable trays. It runs at a fixed 165 °F, so it is built for drying and jerky rather than low-temperature raw recipes. The trays and cover are dishwasher safe and fully immersible, and the stack expands with add-on trays. At $58.99 at National Presto Industries as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range and is one of the cheapest ways into a full-size dehydrator.
