Is the Presto Precise worth it over a stovetop canner?

It is worth it if your stove cannot hold steady pressure or you want push-button control and safety interlocks. A stovetop canner costs far less and holds more jars, but you manage the heat yourself.

How many jars fit in the 12-quart Presto Precise?

The 12-quart model fits a small batch of pint or half-pint jars in a single layer on the rack. It is not meant for large runs of quart jars.

Does it need a special outlet?

No. It runs on standard 120V AC household power at 1100 watts, so a normal kitchen outlet works. It will not run on 220-240V power without a converter.

What comes in the box?

You get the canner, the canning rack that holds jars off the bottom, and the lid with its safety features. Jars and lids are sold separately.

When is the price lowest?

Only one store lists it new, at $368.81 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, so there is little room to compare. Watch for seasonal kitchen sales and check the price history before buying.

Our take on the Presto Precise Electric Pressure Canner, 12 qt

The Presto Precise is a 12-quart electric pressure canner that plugs into a standard 120V outlet and runs on 1100 watts, so you can pressure-can without a stovetop or a separate burner. It has a digital LED display and ten built-in safety features, plus a canning rack that holds jars off the bottom of the pot. It is the digital successor to Presto's stovetop canners and its earlier electric models. The best new price is $368.81 at Amazon as of November 4, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is little price competition to shop around.
