Is this real 14k gold?

No. It is brass with 14k gold flash plating, a very thin gold layer. The 14k refers to the plating, not a solid gold chain.

How long are the chains?

Each chain is 16 inches with a 2-inch extender, so it adjusts up to about 18 inches. That suits most necklines for layering.

Will the plating wear off?

Flash plating is thin, so it can fade or tarnish with daily wear, sweat and perfume. Keep it dry and store it separately to slow that down.

Can I wear it in the shower or pool?

Better not. Water, chlorine and soap speed up plating wear and can dull the finish on the brass.

At $11.20 at Kohl's as of November 5, 2026, it is a low-risk gift, and the decorative card helps. Just set expectations that it is plated, not solid gold.

When is the best time to buy?
