Questions and answers

Is the 150 set worth it over the 72?: If you blend a lot and want unusual greens, grays and skin tones, the 150 saves buying singles. Casual users can start with the 72 and add open-stock pencils.
How does it compare with Prismacolor Scholar?: Premier has softer, more pigmented cores and a bigger color range. Scholar is harder, cheaper and aimed at students.
Do the leads break easily?: The thick cores resist breakage better than thin hard leads, but some sets arrive with cracked cores from shipping. Check pencils on arrival and sharpen gently.
What comes in the box?: 150 assorted Premier colored pencils in a metal tin. No sharpener or eraser is included.
When is the best time to buy?: Prices swing with back-to-school and holiday sales. The recent range ran from $116.99 to $139.99, so near $117 is a good buy.
Are these good for adult coloring books?: Yes. The soft cores cover large areas quickly and blend well, though they need frequent sharpening for fine detail.
Where is the Prismacolor Premier 150 cheapest?: At Fisher Hawaii, for $116.99, 16% under what the other stores charge, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the Prismacolor Premier 150?: 6 stores we checked sell it, including Fisher Hawaii, eBay, Target, Michaels Stores, Walmart.
