Pros
  • 30 pieces covers many sizes for about $1.33 per piece at $39.99
  • 4-hinge locking lids are marketed as leak-proof and airtight
  • BPA-free plastic, microwave and freezer safe
  • Nests and stacks to save cabinet space
  • Dishwasher safe on the top rack
Cons
  • Plastic, not glass, so it can stain or hold odors from tomato and curry
  • Lids are top-rack dishwasher only, so hand washing is safer for the seals
  • Locking lids take more effort to seat than simple snap lids
  • No divided containers, so mixed meals need separate pieces
  • Leak-proof claims depend on the gasket seating correctly every time

Questions and answers

Is this set worth $39.99?
At $39.99 at JCPenney as of November 4, 2026, you get 30 pieces, roughly $1.33 each. That is a fair price for a full set of locking plastic containers, though glass sets cost more and last longer.
Are the lids really leak-proof?
Rachael Ray markets them as leak-proof with a 4-hinge locking system. In practice they hold for soups and sauces in a bag, but check that every hinge is snapped before you trust them with liquid.
Can these go in the microwave and dishwasher?
Yes. The containers are microwave safe and dishwasher safe on the top rack. Keep lids on the top rack and avoid high heat, which can warp plastic and loosen seals.
How does this compare with glass storage sets?
Plastic is lighter, cheaper and safer around kids, but glass does not stain or hold odors and can go in the oven. This set wins on price and piece count; glass wins on longevity.
What sizes are in the 30-piece set?
The set mixes rectangular and square containers with a listed capacity around 1,000 ml for the main size, plus smaller pieces. Exact size breakdown is not published on the listing, so check the box before buying if you need specific volumes.
When is it cheapest?
Only one new price, $39.99 at JCPenney as of November 4, 2026, is listed, so there is no recent low to compare. Sets like this often drop during back-to-school and Black Friday sales.
