Is 266,000 BTU enough for my pool?

It suits an in-ground pool of about 25,000 gallons, or a pool-and-spa combo. Larger pools or cold climates may need the next size up.

Can it be installed indoors?

No. It is an outdoor unit. Indoor installation requires a venting system bought separately, and Raypak's clearances must be followed.

What does it need to run?

A natural gas line, a 120V electrical outlet and an outdoor pad with clearance for airflow. It does not run on propane without a conversion kit.

Does it work at high altitude?

It is rated for 0–2,000 ft elevation. Above that, gas pressure and orifice changes are needed, so check with Raypak before buying.

Is the price a good one?

At $3,374.00 at Home Depot as of November 7, 2026, it sits in the normal range for a 266,000 BTU digital unit with a two-year warranty. Compare against the 6 stores listing it new before buying.

What is Protek Shield?

It is a corrosion-protection element for the copper heat exchanger. It is meant to extend exchanger life, especially in pools with aggressive water chemistry.
