Is the Hayward HeatPro W3HP50HA2 worth it over a gas heater?

For a small above-ground pool in a mild climate, yes. Its COP of 6.0 means much lower running costs than gas or propane, though it heats more slowly and loses output in cold air.

What size pool will 50,000 BTU heat?

Roughly 15,000-18,000 gallons in a warm climate, less in cooler areas or with a short season. Hayward positions it for smaller above-ground pools.

What electrical setup does it need?

A dedicated 208-230V, 60 Hz single-phase circuit with a maximum 35-amp breaker. It draws about 14 kW, so confirm your panel capacity before buying.

Does it work in cold weather?

It runs down to 40 °F ambient air, but heat pump output falls as air cools. Below that it should not be run, and it is not a freeze-protection device.

What flow rate does it require?

Between 16 and 25 GPM. Check your pump and plumbing deliver that range, or heating performance and reliability suffer.

Is a warranty included?

The listed specs state no written warranty. Ask the seller for Hayward's current warranty terms on the W3HP50HA2 before ordering.
