Our take on the Rebrilliant Upholstery Foam Cushion High Density

This is a two-pack of 5-inch-thick, 30-inch-wide high-density upholstery foam cushions from Rebrilliant, sold as replacement padding for chair seats, benches and similar furniture. The appeal is the thickness and density: 5 inches holds shape longer than the 2- to 3-inch foam most seat cushions use, and the 30-inch width covers wide benches and deep chairs. It is raw foam, not a finished cushion, so you supply the cover. No current price was available to compare against its recent range.

Pros
  • 5-inch thickness gives a deep, supportive seat
  • High density resists flattening better than soft foam
  • 30-inch width suits wide benches and deep chairs
  • Two pieces per pack covers a pair of chairs
  • Cuts to size with a serrated knife or electric carver
Cons
  • Bare foam, so you must buy or sew a cover
  • 5 inches is too tall for many standard chair frames
  • High density feels firm, not plush
  • Foam can shed and yellow without a liner
  • No stated density rating or certification given

Questions and answers

Is this foam firm enough for a heavy person?
High-density foam at 5 inches is the firmest common choice for seat cushions and handles heavier users better than low-density foam. Expect a supportive seat rather than a soft sink-in feel.
Can I cut it to fit my chair?
Yes. An electric carving knife or a long serrated blade gives the cleanest edge; mark the line and cut slowly. A bread knife works for small trims.
What size cover do I need?
Measure the cut foam and add seam allowance plus a little slack for the 5-inch depth. A cover cut exactly to size will be hard to get on.
Is 5 inches too thick for a dining chair?
Often yes. On a standard dining chair a 5-inch cushion raises the seat height noticeably; 2 to 3 inches is the usual pick there. This suits benches, deep lounge chairs and window seats.
Does it come with a cover or liner?
No. The pack is bare foam only, so plan for a fabric cover or at least a thin liner to protect it.
When is the price lowest?
Foam prices move with sales events rather than season; watch for store-wide discounts. No current price was available to compare with its recent range.
