Is the GI33 worth it over a cheaper gas insert?

It makes sense if you want a wide fire view in a tight firebox and value the included remote, blower and lighting. If raw heat output or efficiency is the priority, compare inserts rated above 70% before deciding.

Will it fit my existing fireplace?

Measure your firebox carefully. The GI33 needs at least 33-7/8 inches at the front and 21-5/8 inches at the back, plus clearance for venting and the gas line. A dealer should confirm fit before you order.

How much heat does it put out?

It delivers up to 38,500 BTU on natural gas and turns down to 20,500 BTU. That heats a living room or family room well, but it is not a furnace replacement.

Can it run on propane?

Yes, with an optional propane conversion kit. On propane it is rated 36,000 BTU maximum and 20,000 BTU minimum.

What comes in the box?

The insert, Proflame 2 remote, variable-speed blower, ember bed lighting and ceramic glass. Faceplates and finishes are sold separately, so budget for those.

When is the best time to buy?

Gas inserts usually see discounts in spring and early summer, before heating season. Watch the price history and buy when it drops below its recent range.

Our take on the Regency Atmosphere GI33

The Regency Atmosphere GI33 is a 33-inch natural gas fireplace insert with a patent-pending Infusion Burner, rated 38,500 BTU on high and 20,500 BTU on low. It uses a flush-mount design with a narrow rear width of 21-5/8 inches, so it fits many existing fireboxes while keeping a wide 33-7/8-inch front viewing area. It ships with a Proflame 2 remote, variable-speed blower and ember bed lighting, and Regency lists a limited lifetime warranty. Efficiency is 68.6% (EnerGuide 64.3%), which is mid-pack for a gas insert. No price was given for this product, so check current store pricing against its own history before buying.
