Our take on the RetraxPRO MX Retractable Tonneau Cover

The RetraxPRO MX is a hard, retractable aluminum tonneau cover for 2002-2008 Ram 1500 and 2003-2009 Ram 2500/3500 trucks with the 6'4" bed. It rolls into a canister at the cab and locks in any position, so you get bed security without removing a panel. The matte black finish is UV-protected and built to resist dents, scratches and corrosion. At $2,249.99 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, it sits at the top of the retractable-cover market, so compare against the cheaper RetraxONE line before buying.

Questions and answers

Will it fit my Ram?
It fits 2002-2008 Ram 1500 and 2003-2009 Ram 2500/3500 trucks with the 6'4" standard bed. Check your bed length before ordering.
Can I lock it in a partly open position?
Yes. The cover locks at any point along the rails, so you can leave part of the bed open for tall cargo.
How much bed space does the canister take?
The canister sits at the front of the bed and takes up roughly a foot of length. Plan for that if you haul long items.
Is it worth the price?
At $2,249.99 at Walmart as of November 6, 2026, it costs more than most folding covers. It makes sense if you want lockable security and full retraction.
How does it compare with the RetraxONE?
The PRO MX uses heavier-gauge aluminum and a matte finish for more dent and scratch resistance. The RetraxONE is lighter and cheaper.
Does it keep water out?
It is designed to shed rain and is UV-protected, but like most retractable covers it is not fully waterproof at the rails and tailgate.
Where is the RetraxPRO MX Retractable Tonneau Cover cheapest?
At Walmart, for $2,249.99, as of our latest check.
Where can I buy the RetraxPRO MX Retractable Tonneau Cover?
