Our take on the Rosalind Wheeler Reinert 6-Light Lantern Square Chandelier

The Reinert is a 24-inch square lantern chandelier in antique black metal with a fabric shade and six candelabra sockets. It hangs from a chain and stands 20 inches tall, so it suits dining rooms and two-story foyers with standard ceiling height. The open lantern frame keeps the look airy while the fabric shade softens the glow. It takes six E12 bulbs, which are not included.

Best forDining rooms and eat-in kitchensTwo-story foyers and stairwellsFarmhouse and transitional interiorsBuyers who want a lantern look without glass panels
Pros
  • Square lantern silhouette reads modern but fits traditional rooms
  • Six candelabra sockets give even, layered light
  • Antique black finish with wood accents warms the frame
  • Chain mount adjusts to sloped or high ceilings
  • Fabric shade diffuses glare from bare bulbs
Cons
  • Bulbs are not included; six E12 candelabras add to the cost
  • 24-inch width is too large for small rooms or low ceilings
  • Fabric shade collects dust and is harder to clean than metal
  • Candelabra bulbs put out less light than standard-base fixtures

Questions and answers

Is the Reinert chandelier worth it?
It is a reasonable pick if you want a large lantern fixture with a softer fabric shade. Compare it with glass-lantern chandeliers at the same width, which cost more but are easier to clean.
What bulbs does it take?
Six E12 candelabra-base bulbs, sold separately. LED candelabras at 40W-equivalent keep heat down and last longer in an enclosed shade.
Will it fit an 8-foot ceiling?
The fixture is 20 inches tall before the chain, so on an 8-foot ceiling it hangs low over a table. It fits better in rooms with 9-foot ceilings or in a foyer.
How wide is it, and what room size suits it?
It is 24 inches square. That suits a dining table about 48 to 60 inches long or a foyer at least 10 feet wide.
Does it work on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The chain mount lets it hang plumb on a sloped ceiling, though you may need a sloped-ceiling adapter for the canopy.
When is it cheapest?
Lighting tends to drop during holiday sales and in January clearance. Track the price history and buy when it falls below its recent range.
