Is the Safavieh Cape Cod rug soft enough for a living room?

It is a flat jute weave, so it is firm and slightly scratchy rather than plush. A rug pad adds a little cushioning, but it suits casual rooms better than cozy barefoot lounging.

Does the Cape Cod rug shed?

Some shedding is normal for new jute and usually settles with regular vacuuming. Owners who complain most mention loose fibers in the first weeks.

What sizes does it come in?

It is sold in round, oval, square and rectangle shapes, with rectangle sizes up to 10 by 14 feet and runners up to 12 feet.

Do I need a rug pad with this rug?

Yes. The thin flatweave slides on hard floors without one, and a pad also protects the floor and adds comfort.

Is $35.37 a good price for the Cape Cod rug?

That eBay price as of November 8, 2026 is at the low end of its recent range, but it likely reflects a small size. Check the size before comparing with larger listings.
