Is $287.99 a good price for this rug?

It is the only new price we have, $287.99 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, so there is no lower recent price to compare it with. For a handmade 8' x 10' wool rug, that is in the usual range for Safavieh hand-hooked rugs.

Can this rug go in a dining room?

Safavieh lists dining areas as a use case, and the low loop pile lets chairs slide. Loop pile can snag on chair legs, so use felt pads and a rug pad underneath.

Does it need a rug pad?

Yes, a rug pad is recommended. It keeps the wool rug from sliding and adds cushioning under the thin 0.31-inch pile.

Spot clean only. Vacuum gently on a low setting, blot spills right away, and avoid machine washing or soaking the wool.

What size is this rug?

The listing is for an 8' x 10' rectangular rug. Check the dimensions on the store page before ordering, since the spec sheet also lists smaller measurements.

Is it safe for homes with pets?

The materials are listed as non-toxic, but the loop pile can catch on claws. Trim snags rather than pulling them, and vacuum with a suction-only head.

Our take on the Safavieh Christmas Holiday Area Rug 8' x 10'

A handmade, hand-hooked wool rug from Safavieh in a Christmas holiday motif, listed here in an 8' x 10' size. It has a low loop pile about 0.31 inches high, so it sits flat under furniture and in doorways. Wool gives it warmth and durability for moderate-traffic rooms, but it is spot clean only and needs a rug pad. The best new price is $287.99 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, and only one store lists it new, so there is no recent price range to compare against.
