Is the Safavieh Fontana Shag rug worth it?

It is a reasonable pick if you want a thick, soft, neutral rug at a modest price. Skip it for busy hallways or homes with pets that shed, where the deep ivory pile is hard to keep clean.

How thick is this rug?

It is about 2 inches thick, which is on the plush end for a shag rug. That means doors may catch on it and furniture legs will sink in.

Can this rug go in a bathroom or kitchen?

No. It is an indoor shag rug with a deep synthetic pile, so it holds moisture and crumbs. It suits bedrooms and living rooms better.

How do I clean a 2-inch shag rug?

Shake it out and vacuum with a suction-only setting, avoiding a beater bar. Spot clean spills quickly, since ivory shows stains.

Is the rug reversible?

Yes. The braided construction is reversible, so you can flip it to even out wear.

When is the best time to buy a Safavieh rug?

Rug prices tend to dip during major sales events and at the end of a season. Check the price history before buying to see whether the current price is low for this model.

Our take on the Safavieh Fontana Shag FNTB881A Ivory Rug

The Safavieh Fontana Shag FNTB881A is a handmade, braided shag rug in solid ivory. It is 2 inches thick, so it adds real cushioning underfoot and a soft, textured look to a room. The synthetic pile is built for easy care and the rug is reversible, which helps it wear evenly. It is an indoor rectangular rug, best suited to bedrooms and living rooms rather than high-traffic hallways.
