Is the X Ultra 360 Mid GTX worth it over the standard X Ultra?

The 360 Mid adds a mid-cut collar and GORE-TEX waterproofing to the X Ultra formula. If you hike in wet weather or want ankle coverage, the upgrade is worth it; for dry, fast day hikes the lower, non-waterproof version is lighter and cooler.

How does it compare with the X Ultra 4 Mid GTX?

The 360 is the value-oriented line, with a similar outsole and stability but a simpler upper and less refined cushioning than the X Ultra 4. Choose the 4 for longer, rougher routes and the 360 for everyday day hikes.

Does it fit true to size?

Most buyers take their normal Salomon size, but the fit is regular to slightly narrow. If you have wide feet or wear thick socks, consider a half size up.

Is it actually waterproof?

Yes. The GORE-TEX membrane blocks rain, wet grass and shallow stream crossings. Water can still enter over the collar in deep water, and the membrane makes the shoe warmer than a non-waterproof model.
