Is the Salomon XT-6 good for actual trail running?

Yes for short to mid-distance runs on dirt and gravel. The grip is strong, but the firm cushioning suits runners who like ground feel rather than plush comfort.

Does the XT-6 fit true to size?

It runs snug through the midfoot. Runners with wide feet often go up a half size; those with narrow feet can take their usual size.

Is the XT-6 waterproof?

No. This version has a mesh and textile upper with no Gore-Tex membrane, so it wets through in rain or puddles.

How does the XT-6 compare with the XT-4?

The XT-6 has a firmer, more responsive ride and a sleeker upper; the XT-4 is softer and bulkier. Both share the quick-lace system and trail outsole.

What is a fair price for the XT-6?

The best new price is $185 at Nordstrom as of November 7, 2026. Popular colorways rarely drop far below that; discounts tend to appear on less-wanted sizes and colors.

Can I wear the XT-6 as an everyday sneaker?

Many people do. It is comfortable for walking and standing, but the firm sole and lugged outsole are not ideal for very long days on hard pavement.
