Is the Galaxy Watch5 44mm LTE worth it at $159?

Yes, if you have an Android phone and want LTE and full health tracking. At $159 at Distritech as of November 3 it costs far less than its $329 launch price, though newer models have better battery life.

How long does the battery last?

Samsung rates it at 16 hours with LTE in use. With Bluetooth only and light use, many owners get a day and a half, but heavy GPS or LTE use means charging nightly.

Does it work with an iPhone?

No. The Watch5 LTE pairs with Android phones only, and some features such as ECG and blood pressure need a Samsung Galaxy phone.

Do I need a separate data plan for LTE?

Yes. LTE models need a carrier eSIM plan, usually a few dollars a month, added to your phone's account. Without one, the watch still works over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Yes. It is rated 5 ATM, about 32 ft of water resistance, so it is fine for pools and showers. Skip it for diving or high-speed water sports.

The watch with a gray silicone band and a magnetic wireless charging cable. A power adapter is not included.

Our take on the Samsung Galaxy Watch5 44mm LTE Smartwatch

The Galaxy Watch5 44mm LTE is Samsung's 2022 Wear OS smartwatch with a 1.4-inch AMOLED screen, aluminum case, 16 GB storage and built-in LTE for calls and data without a phone. It runs Wear OS with Samsung's One UI layer, tracks sleep, heart rate and body composition, and is water-resistant to 5 ATM (about 32 ft). The main trade-off is battery: Samsung rates it at 16 hours with LTE in use, so heavy users charge daily. Its latest best price is $159 at Distritech as of November 3, well below its $329 launch price and near the low end of its recent range.
