Our take on the Scepter Neptune Portable Fuel Tank

The Scepter Neptune is a 6-gallon portable fuel tank in UV-stabilized HDPE, sized for small outboards on fishing boats and dinghies. Its low-permeation body and two-way vented cap are meant to cut fuel evaporation and fumes, and the crush-resistant shell resists rust and corrosion. At $29.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent range across 7 stores.

Questions and answers

Is the Scepter Neptune worth it?
At $29.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026, it is a low-cost 6-gallon tank with a low-permeation body and vented cap. It suits small outboards; check that your fuel line fittings match before buying.
Does it come with a fuel hose and primer bulb?
The listing describes the tank and two-way vented cap only. Plan on buying a hose assembly and primer bulb separately unless a bundle says otherwise.
Will it fit my boat's fuel line?
The tank uses a standard marine quick-connect fitting, but connector styles vary by motor brand. Confirm your engine's fitting type before ordering.
Does the cap leak?
The two-way vented cap seals when closed and vents when opened for filling. Seat it firmly and avoid overfilling, since tipped or overfilled tanks can weep at the cap.
How big is it?
It measures 20.7 by 13.0 by 10.9 inches and weighs 5.3 lb empty. Six gallons of gasoline adds roughly 37 lb when full.
When is it cheapest?
The current $29.99 at eBay as of November 3, 2026 is at the low end of its recent range. Marine supply sales in spring and fall are the usual times to watch for lower prices.
