Is the Encode Plus worth it over the older Encode?

Yes if you use Apple devices. The Plus adds home keys in Apple Wallet and Apple Watch unlock, which the standard Encode lacks. Otherwise the older model covers the basics for less.

Does it need a hub or bridge?

No. It connects directly over WiFi, so it works with Apple Home and Google Assistant without an extra hub.

How long do the batteries last?

Schlage rates it at about six months on four AA batteries. Heavy WiFi and HomeKit use shortens that, so check the app's battery level.

It fits standard wooden doors with a 2-1/8 inch cross bore and 1-inch edge bore. Measure before ordering if your door is older or nonstandard.

What comes in the box?

The deadbolt, thumbturn, touchscreen keypad, strike plate, mounting screws and installation hardware. You supply a Philips head screwdriver.

It tends to dip during Black Friday and spring home sales. The current best is $229.00 at The Home Depot as of November 4, 2026.
