Is the KERDI-DRAIN-H worth it over a standard drain?

If your waste pipe runs horizontally, yes. A standard vertical drain will not fit without extra framing or a raised floor. The trade-off is that you pay separately for the grate and must stay within the KERDI waterproofing system.

What is the difference between KERDI-DRAIN-H and the standard KERDI-DRAIN?

The standard drain connects vertically through the floor. The -H version exits horizontally through a 2" PVC outlet, which suits wall or joist-bay routing. Both use the same fleece bonding flange and 4" grates.

Does the grate come in the box?

No. The box contains the ABS drain body with the horizontal outlet. Order a 4" Classic, Contour, Trendline or Tileable grate separately.

Will it work with a KERDI-SHOWER tray?

Yes, but you need the KERDI-SHOWER-CB height compensation board, sold separately, to match the tray height and accommodate the drain body and waste pipe.

What pipe does it connect to?

A 2" PVC drain pipe joined with solvent cement. Check local code for the trap and vent requirements before roughing in.

The best new price was $30.22 at Flooring Market as of November 4, 2026, across 7 stores. Compare the grate price too, since that often swings the total more than the drain body.
