Questions and answers

Is Sergeant's Guardian Pro worth it?
It is cheap, but the 2.4 out of 5 rating suggests many owners were disappointed. If fleas are already established, a vet-recommended product with a different active ingredient is a safer bet.
How does it compare with Frontline or Advantage?
Frontline uses fipronil and Advantage uses imidacloprid; both have stronger track records against fleas. Guardian Pro relies on etofenprox alone, which is less proven for heavy infestations.
Is it safe around cats?
No. Etofenprox and pyrethroid-type ingredients are toxic to cats. Keep treated dogs separate from cats until the product is fully dry.
How often do I apply it?
Once a month, for up to 30 days of protection per dose. The 3-count pack covers three months for one dog.
What size dog is it for?
Dogs under 33 lb. Larger dogs need a different size or product.
When is it cheapest?
The best new price was $11.97 at Chewy.com as of November 4, 2026. Flea and tick products often drop in spring and early summer.
