Is the Serta Motion Air worth it?

If you mainly want head and foot adjustability at the lowest price, yes. It skips extras like massage and app control, so spend more only if you need those.

How is it different from Serta's higher Motion bases?

The Motion Air is the entry model. Upgraded Motion bases add features such as massage, USB charging and more position presets; the Air keeps to a wireless remote and two moving sections.

Does it need a box spring?

No. The base itself supports the mattress, so you put the mattress directly on top and skip the box spring.

What size mattress fits it?

A Twin XL mattress. The base is 60 in wide and about 80 in long, matching standard Twin XL dimensions.

What comes in the box?

The base components and a wireless remote. Assembly is required, and the remote needs batteries.

Adjustable bases tend to drop during holiday and mattress-event sales. At $295 as of November 4, 2026, it is already near the bottom of its recent range, so waiting may not save much.

Our take on the Serta Motion Air Adjustable Base

The Motion Air is Serta's entry-level adjustable base, sold as a Twin XL foundation that replaces a box spring. A wireless remote raises and lowers the head and foot sections for sleeping, reading, watching TV or working in bed. It holds up to 650 lbs and ships by small parcel, so it arrives flat and needs assembly. At $295 at Smith's Furniture as of November 4, 2026, it sits at the low end of its recent price range across the two stores that list it new.
