Is the Shark PowerDetect Clean & Empty worth $349?

At $349 at Amazon as of November 3, 2026, you pay a premium for the self-empty dock and automatic suction. If you want to stop emptying a bin after every clean, it earns the price. If you mainly need a light quick-pickup vacuum, a simpler stick costs less.

How does it compare with the standard Shark PowerDetect stick?

The main addition is the auto-empty base, which holds debris up to 45 days and charges the vacuum. The cleaning head and PowerDetect sensors are shared. The dock adds weight and footprint but removes daily bin handling.

How long does the battery last and can I swap it?

Shark rates runtime at up to 70 minutes, less on max power. The battery is not removable, so you cannot swap in a spare. A full charge takes about 6 hours.

Will it work on both carpet and hard floors?

Yes. The DuoClean Detect nozzle has two brushrolls and adjusts for all floor types, and brushroll shut-off helps on delicate hard floors. PowerDetect raises suction automatically when it senses carpet or dirt.

What comes in the box?

You get the vacuum, the self-empty dock, an 8-inch duster crevice tool, a pet multi-tool and an odor neutralizer puck. A 5-year limited warranty is included.

Cordless stick prices usually drop during Black Friday and holiday sales and again in spring clearance. Track its price history and buy when it falls clearly below the recent range.
