Is the Skil 9-tool kit worth it for a beginner?

For light home repairs and weekend projects, yes. Nine tools on one battery platform at $37.85 as of November 3 is a low-cost way to start, though you will likely want a second battery.

How many batteries come in the box?

One 20V lithium-ion battery. Every tool in the kit runs on it, so plan on buying spares if you use saws or the drill for long stretches.

Is it too heavy to carry around?

The full kit weighs 19.7 kg. The rolling tool box handles most of that on flat ground, but lifting it into a truck or up stairs takes some effort.

Does it work for professional jobs?

It is aimed at residential use. Brushless motors help, but Skil's 20V line is built for occasional DIY work rather than daily jobsite abuse.

When is the price lowest?

The only recorded price is $37.85 as of November 3, with no higher or lower days logged yet. Watch the price history for movement before buying.

Can I add more tools to the same battery?

Yes. Skil's 20V platform includes other bare tools, so you can expand without buying new batteries as long as you stay in that line.

Our take on the Skil 20V Brushless 9-Tool Combo Kit

The Skil 20V Brushless 9-Tool Combo Kit bundles nine cordless tools — drill, impact driver, saws and more — around one 20V lithium-ion battery and a brushless motor, packed in a rolling tool box. It targets homeowners who want a full starter set from a single battery platform rather than buying tools one at a time. The only recorded price is $37.85 as of November 3, so there is no meaningful recent range to compare against yet.
