Our take on the Slumber Solutions Renew 12" Customize Your Comfort Gel Foam Mattress-In-A-Box, Firm, King

The Slumber Solutions Renew is a 12-inch gel memory foam mattress sold in a box, here in a firm King. The gel-infused foam is meant to sleep cooler than plain memory foam, and the tight-top cover is polyester. It is fiberglass-free and latex-free, and it never needs turning. No foundation is included, so you need a platform bed or box spring.

Questions and answers

Is this mattress good for side sleepers?
Probably not. A firm 12-inch foam bed puts pressure on hips and shoulders for side sleepers. Back and stomach sleepers are a better fit.
Do I need a box spring?
No box spring is included. Use a platform foundation or a conventional box spring; a slatted frame with close slats also works.
Does the gel foam sleep cool?
Gel infusion helps somewhat, but this is still memory foam and can trap heat. Hot sleepers may prefer a hybrid with coils.
How long does it take to expand?
Foam-in-a-box mattresses usually reach full height within 24 to 72 hours. Sleep on it sooner if you need to, but expect it to keep rising.
Is it fiberglass-free?
Yes. Slumber Solutions lists this mattress as fiberglass-free and latex-free, which matters for shoppers avoiding those materials.
What size is the King?
The King measures 76 by 80 inches and 12 inches thick. The listing also mentions an 84-inch length, which is California King, so confirm the size at checkout.
Where can I buy the Slumber Solutions Renew 12" Customize Your Comfort Gel Foam Mattress-In-A-Box, Firm, King?
