How much will one S601 raise my pool temperature?

SmartPool rates it at about 6°F or more, up to 15°F in ideal sun. Real gains depend on sun hours, air temperature and pool size; a large pool will see less.

How many panels do I need?

A common rule is solar coverage equal to 50 to 100 percent of the pool's surface area. An 80 sq. ft. panel suits small pools or supplemental heat; most in-ground pools need two or more.

Can I install it myself?

Yes. It connects to your existing pump return line with PVC fittings and can sit on the ground, a rack or a roof. You need a sunny location and basic plumbing skills.

Does it need its own pump or power?

No. Water flows through the panel using your existing pool pump, so there is no separate pump, controller or electricity use.

When is the price lowest?

Solar pool heaters tend to be discounted in late summer and early fall as the season winds down. The current best new price is $596.99 at Prime Pool Market as of November 7, 2026.
