Our take on the Solar Ground Lights 8 LED Solar Powered Disk Lights Outdoor Waterproof

These are flat, disk-shaped solar path lights that stake into soil and switch on at dusk. Each has 8 LEDs, a 1.2V NiMH cell charged by a small top panel, and a waterproof housing for garden beds and walkways. At $14.95 at Walmart as of November 4, 2026, they are a low-cost way to line a path, but the small panel and cell mean modest brightness and a few hours of light per night.

Best forMarking a garden path or driveway edgeRenters who want no wiringLow-stakes accent lighting in bedsBuying several lights on a small budget
Pros
  • No wiring or tools: push the stake into soil
  • Turns on and off automatically at dusk and dawn
  • Waterproof housing handles rain and sprinklers
  • 8 LEDs per unit give a wider spread than single-LED disks
  • Low entry price at $14.95 for a set
Cons
  • Small solar panel and 1.2V cell give dim light and limited runtime
  • Output drops on cloudy days and in winter
  • Plastic stakes can snap in hard or frozen ground
  • Light is accent-level, not for safety or security
  • Battery is usually not user-replaceable, so units fade after a season or two

Questions and answers

Are these bright enough to light a walkway?
They give a soft accent glow, not full walkway lighting. Use them to mark edges and steps, and keep a wired or motion light for safety.
How long do they stay on at night?
Expect roughly 4 to 8 hours on a full sunny charge. Runtime drops in winter and after cloudy days because the panel and 1.2V cell are small.
Do they turn on automatically?
Yes. A light sensor switches them on at dusk and off at dawn, so there is no timer or switch to set.
Can I replace the batteries?
Most units of this type are sealed, so the cell is not meant to be swapped. When a light stops holding a charge, the usual fix is replacement.
Where should I place them?
Put them where the top panel gets direct sun most of the day, such as open lawn or bed edges. Shade from shrubs or buildings cuts charging and runtime.
Is $14.95 a good price?
It is a low price for a multi-pack of solar disk lights, and Walmart is the only new-price listing as of November 4, 2026. Compare per-light cost against larger packs before buying.
Where is the Solar Ground Lights 8 LED Solar Powered Disk Lights Outdoor Waterproof cheapest?
At Walmart, for $14.95, as of our latest check.
