Our take on the Solar Shield Clipon Rec 8 54 Polarized Rectangular Sunglasses
The Solar Shield Clipon Rec 8 54 is a polarized rectangular clip-on that turns prescription glasses into sunglasses. It uses a full-rim metal frame, a grey mirror lens and a small 49-52 mm fit, and it clips onto the front of your glasses rather than over them. At $9.98 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, it is a low-cost way to add polarized sun protection without a second pair of prescription lenses.

Questions and answers
- Is it worth buying over prescription sunglasses?
- At $9.98 it is far cheaper than a second prescription pair. It suits occasional use; daily wearers may prefer dedicated prescription sunglasses for fit and comfort.
- Will it fit my glasses?
- It is made for glasses around 54 mm wide with a 20 mm bridge, in the small 49-52 mm frame class. Measure your frames before buying, since a loose clip-on slips and a tight one scratches.
- Does the polarized lens really help while driving?
- Yes. Polarization reduces glare from wet roads, hoods and dashboards. The grey mirror tint keeps colors fairly neutral in bright daylight.
- What is in the box?
- The clip-on sunglasses only, in value-pack packaging. There is no case or cleaning cloth listed, and no written warranty.
- When is it cheapest?
- The best new price was $9.98 at Amazon as of November 5, 2026, and only one store listed it new. Clip-ons like this rarely drop much below $10, so waiting for a sale saves little.
- Where is the Solar Shield Clipon Rec 8 54 Polarized Rectangular Sunglasses cheapest?
- At Amazon, for $9.98, as of our latest check.
- Where can I buy the Solar Shield Clipon Rec 8 54 Polarized Rectangular Sunglasses?
- 3 stores we checked sell it, including Amazon, eBay, Walmart.
