Is the 24-50mm f/2.8 G worth it over the 24-70mm f/2.8 GM II?

If you want the smallest f/2.8 zoom and rarely shoot past 50mm, yes. The GM II costs much more and is heavier, but gives 70mm reach and better edge sharpness.

Does it work on APS-C Sony bodies?

Yes, on E-mount APS-C bodies it behaves like a 36-75mm zoom. You pay for full-frame glass you won't fully use.

Does it have image stabilization?

No. It relies on the camera's in-body stabilization, so pair it with an IBIS body for handheld low-light work.

How close can it focus?

It focuses close enough at 24mm for near-macro detail of flowers and products, though magnification drops toward 50mm.

Is it weather sealed?

Yes, it has dust and moisture resistance to match Sony's sealed bodies, plus a fluorine-coated front element.
