Our take on the Sony K-75XR90

The Sony Bravia XR K-75XR90 is a 75-inch 4K LED TV from Sony's flagship Mini LED line, sold in 65-, 75- and 85-inch sizes. It pairs a 120 Hz panel with full-array Mini LED backlighting, anti-glare coating and Sony's XR processor, and works with Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri. It is a premium set aimed at bright rooms and movie and sports viewing rather than budget buyers.

Best forBright living rooms with lots of windowsMovie and sports fans who want a big 75-inch screenGamers with a PS5 or Xbox who want 120 HzBuyers who want Google TV and voice control
Pros
  • Mini LED backlight gives high brightness and strong contrast
  • 120 Hz panel suits sports and console gaming
  • Anti-glare screen handles daylight viewing
  • Google TV with Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and YouTube built in
  • Works with Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri
  • Slim 1.9-inch depth for a large set
Cons
  • Heavy at 76.7 lb for the 75-inch, so plan for two people and a sturdy mount
  • Flagship price, well above mid-range 75-inch LED TVs
  • LED rather than OLED, so black levels are not perfect in dark rooms
  • Only 4K, no 8K option in this line

Questions and answers

Is the K-75XR90 worth it over a cheaper 75-inch TV?
It is worth it if you watch in a bright room or want strong HDR brightness and 120 Hz gaming. Budget LED sets will look dimmer and handle glare worse. If you mostly watch in a dark room, an OLED may suit you better.
How does it compare with Sony's OLED models?
The XR90 is brighter and better at fighting glare, which helps in sunny rooms. Sony OLEDs like the A95L have deeper blacks and wider viewing angles. Choose the XR90 for brightness, OLED for contrast.
Does it support 120 Hz gaming?
Yes. The panel runs at 120 Hz, which suits PS5 and Xbox Series X at high frame rates. Check that your HDMI cable and console settings are set for 120 Hz.
What is in the box?
You get the TV, the tabletop stand, a remote, batteries and the power cable. A wall mount is not included, and the 75-inch set weighs 76.7 lb, so pick a mount rated well above that.
Which size should I get?
It comes in 65, 75 and 85 inches. The 75-inch suits rooms where you sit about 8 to 10 feet away. Go 85 inches for a dedicated media room and 65 inches for smaller spaces.
When is it cheapest?
Large Sony TVs usually drop around Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Super Bowl season. Watch the price history on this page and buy when it falls below its recent range.
Where can I buy the Sony K-75XR90?
2 stores we checked sell it, including eBay, Newegg.com.
