Is the PS5 worth it over a PS4?

Yes, if you want faster loading, 4K output and current exclusives. The PS5 also plays most PS4 discs, so your old library carries over.

Does this model include a disc drive?

Yes. This is the standard edition with a Blu-ray drive, so it plays physical PS5 and PS4 game discs as well as Blu-ray movies.

How much storage does it have?

The standard model ships with an 825 GB SSD, of which roughly 667 GB is usable. You can add an M.2 NVMe SSD for more space.

Can it play games in 4K?

Yes, on supported titles. Many games offer a 4K mode at lower frame rates or a performance mode at higher frame rates.

What comes in the box?

The console, one DualSense wireless controller, an HDMI cable, a power cord and a stand. The listing here shows only the console, so confirm the bundle before buying.

Our take on the Sony PlayStation 5 Console

The PlayStation 5 is Sony's current home console, built around a custom AMD Zen 2 CPU and RDNA 2 GPU, an ultra-high-speed SSD, and a disc drive that also plays PS4 games. It supports 4K output, ray tracing and Tempest 3D Audio, and the DualSense controller adds haptic feedback and adaptive triggers. The latest best new price is $555 at Bigwig PC as of November 7, 2026, with three stores listing it new. This is a standard disc edition; the Marvel's Spider-Man 2 limited edition bundle is a separate variant.
