Is the SpotOn Fence worth $899?

It makes sense if burying wire is impractical or you move often. If you have a small, fenced yard, a physical fence is cheaper over time.

How long does the battery last?

About 25 hours per charge. Plan to recharge the collar most days, and watch the low-battery alert in the app.

How does it compare with the Halo Collar 4?

The SpotOn collar is 1.5 ounces heavier than the Halo Collar 4. Both use GPS boundaries; the SpotOn adds an escape log.

Does it need a cellular subscription?

The collar connects over cellular to the nearest towers, so a plan is required for tracking and boundary functions.

Is the collar waterproof?

Yes, it is rated IP67, so it handles rain and brief immersion.

Our take on the SpotOn Fence Wireless GPS Dog Fence System

The SpotOn Fence is a GPS-based containment system that replaces buried wire with a boundary you draw in an app. The collar uses a multi-constellation GPS receiver and cellular connection to track the dog and warn it near the edge, and it logs escapes. At $899 at Chewy.com as of November 3, 2026, it is the only new price listed, so there is no recent range to compare against — expect to pay near list.
