Our take on the Starbay Kids Art Desk Height Adjustable

The Starbay Kids Art Desk is a height-adjustable children's writing desk with a built-in drawer for art supplies and schoolwork. The adjustable height lets it grow with a child from early grade school into the tween years, and the drawer keeps pencils, markers and paper off the work surface. It is a small-brand desk sold at budget prices, so expect basic materials rather than solid hardwood. Its rating is modest: 4 out of 5 from 8 ratings, a thin sample that says buyers are broadly satisfied but not enthusiastic.

Pros
  • Height adjusts as the child grows, so it lasts several years
  • Built-in drawer holds pencils, crayons and paper
  • Compact footprint suits small rooms
  • Simple assembly and a low price for an adjustable desk
Cons
  • Only 8 ratings, so the 4 out of 5 score is a weak signal
  • Small-brand build quality and hardware are a gamble
  • No stated height range, weight limit or material
  • Not a full art easel despite the 'Art Desk' name

Questions and answers

Is the Starbay Kids Art Desk worth it?
For a budget adjustable desk in a small room, yes. It is a basic piece, so do not expect heirloom build quality. With only 8 ratings, treat the 4 out of 5 score as a rough guide.
What age range does the adjustable height suit?
The listing does not state a height range, so check the seller's measurements before buying. Adjustable kids' desks typically cover roughly ages 5 to 12. Measure your child's seated elbow height against the lowest and highest settings.
Does it come with a chair?
The listing covers the desk only, with a drawer and adjustable height. Assume no chair is included unless the seller says otherwise. Budget for a chair that matches the desk height.
Is it a real art desk or just a writing desk?
It is listed as a writing-style desk with a drawer, not an easel. It suits drawing and homework flat on the surface. For painting at an angle, you would need a separate easel.
How much assembly is required?
Expect flat-pack assembly with basic tools. The adjustable mechanism and drawer are the parts to check carefully. Keep the instructions, since replacement hardware from a small brand can be hard to find.
When is the best time to buy it?
Back-to-school season and major sale events are when kids' desks usually see the deepest discounts. Compare the current price against its price history before buying.
