Our take on the Steelite Push Lawn Sweeper

The Steelite Push Lawn Sweeper is a manual, walk-behind sweeper with a 21-inch clearing width and a 3.5 cubic foot hopper, made for picking up leaves, grass clippings and debris from lawns and driveways. It relies on its wheels turning rotating brushes, so there is no engine, battery or cord to manage. It is a low-cost alternative to a powered blower or lawn vacuum, but its 2.7 out of 5 rating from 21 ratings suggests owners have mixed results. No current price was provided, so check the latest best price against its recent range before buying.

Best forHomeowners with small to mid-size lawns and light leaf fallClearing grass clippings and debris from flat lawns and paved pathsBuyers who want a no-fuel, no-battery sweeping toolOccasional fall cleanup on a tight budget
Pros
  • No engine, battery or cord: push power only
  • 21-inch width covers a reasonable strip per pass
  • 3.5 cubic foot hopper holds a decent load before emptying
  • Simple mechanical design with few parts to fail
  • Quiet and emission-free compared with gas blowers
Cons
  • 2.7 out of 5 rating from 21 ratings points to uneven owner satisfaction
  • Push power means the brushes stall on wet, heavy or thick debris
  • Small wheels and light build struggle on uneven ground
  • Dumping the hopper and adjusting brush height add time to the job
  • No suction, so it lifts less than a powered lawn vacuum

Questions and answers

Is the Steelite Push Lawn Sweeper worth it?
It can be for light, dry cleanup on flat lawns, where its low cost and simple push design make sense. If you regularly face wet leaves or rough ground, a powered blower or lawn vacuum will save you time.
How does it compare with a leaf blower or lawn vacuum?
It sweeps debris into a 3.5 cubic foot hopper instead of blowing it into piles, which can be tidier on paths and short grass. It has no suction, so it lifts less than a powered vacuum and needs dry conditions to work well.
Does it need batteries or gas?
No. The wheels drive the rotating brushes as you push, so there is no engine, battery or cord. That also means sweeping power depends entirely on your walking speed and the ground conditions.
How wide is the sweep and how much does it hold?
It clears a 21-inch path and the hopper holds 3.5 cubic feet of debris. Expect to empty it several times during a full fall cleanup on an average lawn.
What is in the box?
The sweeper ships as a push unit with its hopper and brushes, and assembly is required. Check the listing for any included tools or hardware before buying.
When is it cheapest?
Lawn sweepers usually drop in price in late summer and after the fall leaf season, and again in early spring. Compare the current price with its recent range before buying.
What do buyers say about the Steelite Push Lawn Sweeper?
Rated 2.7 out of 5 from 21 ratings.
