Is 900 watts enough for a microwave?

Yes. 900 watts is mid-range and reheats leftovers and cooks frozen meals faster than the 700-watt units common at this size. It is not a substitute for a 1,000-watt-plus oven for large dishes.

What fits inside a 0.9 cu ft microwave?

A standard dinner plate fits with room to spare. Large casserole dishes and full-size turkeys do not. Measure your tallest dish against the cavity before buying.

Does it have a turntable?

Yes, countertop microwaves in this class use a glass turntable. Check the listing for the turntable diameter if you plan to use wide plates.

How does it compare with a 700-watt microwave?

The extra 200 watts shortens reheat times noticeably and cooks frozen meals more evenly. The trade-off is slightly higher power draw, which matters little on a standard outlet.

When is the best time to buy?

Small-appliance prices drop around Black Friday and back-to-school sales. Check the price history on this page before buying.

Our take on the SUGIFT 0.9 cu ft 900W Retro Countertop Microwave Oven

The SUGIFT 0.9 cu ft Retro Countertop Microwave is a 900-watt compact microwave with a white retro-style finish. The 0.9 cu ft cavity is small enough for a dorm or apartment counter but still fits a dinner plate. At 900 watts it heats faster than typical 700-watt budget models.
