Our take on the Svord Peasant Knife Green

The Svord Peasant Knife is a simple friction-folder from New Zealand with a stainless steel blade and a black synthetic handle. It has no lock: the blade is held open by hand pressure on the extended tang, a design that dates back to peasant farmers' knives. It is light at about 3.2 ounces and 7.25 inches overall, and it is cheap enough to be a beater or a first friction folder. The best new price is $19.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, and only two stores list it new, so the price is unlikely to swing much.

  • Light at about 3.2 ounces

Cons
  • No lock; the blade is held open only by thumb pressure on the tang
  • Handle is basic polymer, not wood or metal
  • Fit and finish can be rough on a knife at this price
  • Not a one-hand opener
  • Only two stores stock it new, so choice is limited

Questions and answers

Is the Svord Peasant Knife worth $19.99?
At $19.99 at eBay as of November 4, 2026, it is a fair price for a stainless friction folder. You are paying for a simple, light working knife, not polished fit and finish.

No. It is a friction folder with no lock. The extended tang lets your thumb hold the blade open, and the blade can close if you release that pressure.
How big and heavy is it?

What is in the box?
The knife itself. Svord ships it without a sheath or extras, so plan on a pouch or pocket carry.
Is it legal to carry where I live?
Non-locking folders are allowed in more places than locking ones, but laws vary by city and country. Check your local rules before carrying it.
When is it cheapest?
Only two stores list it new, so there is little price competition. Watch for occasional eBay discounts rather than expecting regular sales.
